CEO and Co-founder, Truvalue Labs
Hendrik Bartel is the CEO and co-founder of Truvalue Labs, the first company to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to glean timely, objective, and actionable ESG insights for investment decision-making. With a mission to solve the problems of ESG and Intangible Risk data with a technology-first approach, its SaaS and API products offer high scalability, flexibility, and transparency.
With Hendrik’s entrepreneurial background in turning complicated technologies into user-friendly products, he has led product development initiatives at companies including Amazon, Pure Digital Technologies acquired by Cisco, and Cyra Inc. acquired by Leica.
Hendrik earned an Engineering Degree from the Hochschule Hannover (University of Applied Sciences in Hannover, Germany) and an MBA in Global Business Management and Social Entrepreneurship from St. Mary’s College of California.
Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Truvalue Labs
Stephen leads Truvalue Labs’ quantitative research team in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to create new financial signals from unstructured data. An industry leader in quantitative analytics, Stephen joined Truvalue Labs from Thomson Reuters, where he spearheaded the company’s quantitative analytics offering, StarMine, and developed over 15 quantitative models. He has an extensive track record of successful predictive models using widely varying techniques across numerous domains.
He attended college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received his S.B. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Stephen went on to receive his Masters and PhD in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University.
Chief Marketing Officer, Truvalue Labs
Susan is the Chief Marketing Officer at Truvalue Labs (TVL), the first company to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to uncover timely Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data on publicly traded companies. Asset Managers use this data and analytics to build sustainable investment portfolios and indices. Susan joined TVL from Thomson Reuters where she was the Head of Product Strategy for the Asset Management business.
Prior to Thomson Reuters, Susan served as Vice President of Product Marketing at Advent Software and was responsible for the Investment Management Group’s portfolio of products. She also served as General Manager of Vestek, a Thomson Financial portfolio analytics company, and Consulting Manager at Interactive Data.
Head, Applied Research, Truvalue Labs
Jim Hawley, PhD is Professor Emeritus of Management, School of Economics and Business at Saint Mary College of California. He is also Head, Applied Research at Truvalue Labs, San Francisco, California, which provides advanced analytics to create sustainability metrics using real-time ESG data. He is the author of The Rise of Fiduciary Capitalism (2001).
Jim is co-editor Corporate Governance Failures: The role of institutional investors in the global financial crisis.(2011), as well as co-editor of The Cambridge Handbook of Institutional Investment and Fiduciary Duty (2014) and The Routledge Handbook of Responsible Investment (2015).
With over 15 years of product management and engineering experience, Phil has previously led product development efforts in data analytics, enterprise software, and consumer products at companies including Intel, Cisco, Corrigo, and Oracle. He has an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and a BS Computer Science, MIT.
Faithlyn has more than 15 years of engineering experience, and was previously software lead at companies including Flip Video/Cisco, Cranite Systems & SGI.
She has a Master of Science in EE/CS from Stanford University.
David has more than 25 years of experience managing early stage technology companies through rapid growth. He served as CFO of Krux Digital, Inc. before and after its acquisition by Salesforce. He also previously worked as Director of Investment Banking for Centaur Partners, and as either CFO or VP of Finance for four other companies. He holds a Series 79 FINRA.
David has more than 25 years of experience leading corporate strategy and product innovation, helping companies to expand into new markets. At MarkMonitor, David provided leadership for the company’s business in both Asia Pacific and Latin America. Prior to MarkMonitor, David was founder and CEO of NetAcumen, Inc., which was acquired by Responsys, Inc.
A seasoned creative thinker, product leader, and user experience designer, Mark has over 17 years of experience in product innovation and strategy, product management, UX design, and branding for both early stage startups and established companies.
Managing Director, Europe, Truvalue Labs
Sebastian is an experienced ESG professional who has worked closely with investors on sustainability issues for over 10 years, including 5 years in sales managing Western US ESG sales for MSCI and over 5 years in a research capacity as an ESG analyst with RiskMetrics and Innovest.
Director of Product Management, Truvalue Labs
Eli Reisman is the Director of Product Management, responsible for TruValue Labs’ core product offerings. Before joining TruValue Labs, Eli worked as the Director of Partnerships at SASB where he managed the licensing and integration of SASB's framework within SABS partner's products. Additionally, Eli also managed the development of SASB's internal products, including the SASB Navigator, the company's first web based research library. Prior to SASB, Eli spent six years at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Eli holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Environmental Policy from Occidental College and earned his MBA from George Washington University.
Head of Indexes, Truvalue Labs
Thomas Kuh leads Truvalue Index, creating benchmarks for implementing ESG investment strategies through ETFs, mutual funds and institutional accounts. He was Executive Director, Global Head of ESG Indexes, for seven years at MSCI, where he spearheaded the development of innovative ESG equity and fixed income ESG indexes. His professional experience also includes 16 years at KLD Research & Analytics, and service on the boards of SIRI Company (now Sustainalytics) and the US SIF.
Thomas has an MA and PhD in Economics from University of Massachusetts Amherst and a BA in Political Economy from Hampshire College. He was a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University and Professor of Economics at Simmons College.
